For this, you need Windows 10 Pro, Windows 10 Education or Windows 10 Enterprises editions. Most of the time editing the Group Policy Object (GPO) is all the same but if you have Windows 10 Home or Windows 10 Single language, This method will not work.

On Windows 10 Pro, you can use the Local Group Policy editor to disable automatic updates permanently, or you can change the Windows Update settings to decide when updates should be installed.

Disabling updates

To permanently disable automatic updates on Windows 10, use these steps:

  1. Open Run (Windows + R).
  2. Type in gpedit.msc and Press OK to launch the Group Policy Editor.
  3. Navigate to the following path:Computer ConfigurationAdministrative TemplatesWindows ComponentsWindows Update
  4. Double-click or right-click and Click Edit on the Configure Automatic Updates policy on the right side. (Check below Image.)

5. Check the Disabled option to turn off the policy and Click the OK button.

Close the Group Policy Editor and then just do the below last step and restart the Computer.

Open Command Prompt as Admin, (Search for cmd and Right Click on the Command prompt app and Run as administrator). Or you can use PowerShell as Admin too. Press Windows + X and select from the list (Windows PowerShell (Admin)

Enter the Below command and press enter.

                     gpupdate /force

That’s it… You can now enjoy Windows 10 Without Automatic updates.
